Media outlets have recently reported that Derek Fisher, head coach of the New York Knicks, has filed for divorce from his wife of ten years, Candace Fisher. Interestingly enough though, this divorce filing comes just one month after Derek Fisher, posted multiple messages on his social media accounts seemingly affirming their marriage and their love. For example, on February 19th 2015, the couple’s marriage anniversary, Derek posted:
“Happy Anniversary honey! Our best lives are ahead of us! Let’s GO!!! #itpouredrainonourweddingday #wetknot #westucktogether #myrib #blessedlife #beautifulwife.”
However, almost exactly one month later, Derek Fisher filed a complaint for divorce in Los Angeles seeking to end his ten year marriage due to irreconcilable differences. The couple has two children together, and in his divorce documents, Derek is seeking joint legal and physical custody of the children. In fact, at this point, the couple’s divorce proceeding appears to be on track to be a very amicable split. At this point, it is unknown what led to the couple’s split. However, if the amicable nature of the couple’s split and the statements made by Derek Fisher shortly before the divorce filing are any indication, misconduct by the parties is unlikely.
