However, with this installation we take time to discuss the recent divorce rumors surrounding one of the most famous celebrity couples right now: rapper Jay-Z and songstress Beyoncé.
With the tabloids generating a new story of the couples impeding divorce almost daily, it is hard to imagine any reason why the couple should remain together. But, like several other marriages, there are often reasons why a couple will not and should not divorce. Below is a list of reason why, in our experience as Atlanta divorce attorneys, it is unlikely the world will see the end of Jay-Z and Beyoncé's marriage anytime soon.
Divorce is bad for Business
Even before their marriage in 2008, Beyoncé and Jay-Z collaborated on several songs together. Once married, the couple's musical collaboration continued and recently peaked with their joint "On The Run" tour. Because Beyoncé and Jay-Z's careers are so intertwined, a divorce could potentially lead to lower record sales or concert attendance from fans who are disenchanted by the couple's separation. Additionally, a divorce may be harmful to the couple's public image, especially Beyoncé's. Beyoncé is meticulous about crafting and maintaining her public image, and a high profile divorce may potentially damage the chanteuse's image as the perfect wife, mother and entertainer. Divorce often impacts the professional lives and business ventures of both parties, and given the success enjoyed by the artists as a couple, it is likely they will continue to present a united front to avoid the potential negative impact a divorce could have on their careers.
The Expense
With Beyoncé and Jay Z's combined net worth estimated at approximately $900 million, their divorce could potentially be the most expensive celebrity divorce in history. If the issues of divorce, such as child custody or property division are contested, legal fees and professional fees, such as valuation experts and child phycologists could accumulate very quickly. Put in prospective, it is not uncommon for average divorce costs to top tens of thousands of dollars. Imagine if both parties had an estimated net worth of $500 million dollars.
Their Daughter
From her birth, both Beyoncé and Jay-Z have made it clear that their top priority is protecting the well-being of their daughter Blue Ivy. Although in our experience remaining in a failing marriage is not always the best way to protect the best interests of a child, if both parents are committed to healing the relationship, remaining married may be the best alternative to divorce. The couple has not confirmed reports of several media outlets that they are currently engaged in marriage counseling. But if they are, it is possible that with a concerted effort on the part of both parties and the help of a marriage counselor, the couple will be able to resolve ay marital woes they may be facing.
