After 20 years of marriage and three children together, actor Cuba Gooding Jr. and his wife, Sara Kapfer, are getting divorced. According to celebrity news outlet TMZ, Kapfer filed for divorce on April 22, 2014 at the Los Angeles County Superior Court. In her Petition for Divorce, Kapfer cited irreconcilable differences as the grounds for divorce.
The actor, best known for his roles in movies such Jerry Maguire and A Few Good Men met his now estranged wife while the two were in high school. The couple subsequently married in 1994, and have three children together: Spencer, 19, Mason, 17, and Piper, 8. In addition to seeking a divorce based on the couple's irreconcilable differences, which is similar to Georgia's irretrievably broken basis for divorce, Kapfer is also seeking joint legal and physical custody of the couple's minor children and an undetermined amount of child support.
Unlike other celebrity splits, Gooding and Kapfer's split took many off guard because just last year, the Oscar winning actor commented positively on his marriage stating:
"I got a wonderful lady that knows how to run the household even when I'm not there. [And] we're just blessed with wonderful kids," while appearing on the television show The View.
