Both Huffington Post Divorce and TMZ are reporting that celebrity socialite Khloe Kardashian and former NBA star Lamar Odem are finally finalizing their divorce. In 2013, after over three years of marriage, Kardashian filed for a divorce from the former NBA player amidst speculation concerning the former NBA star’s struggle with substance abuse. Although Kardashian filed for divorce in 2013, the proceedings have been stagnant until recently. Odem did not respond to the filing initially, and Kardashian did not seek a default judgment of divorce despite that being an option. In fact, in April of this year, the judge presiding over the divorce proceeding threatened to dismiss the pending divorce case in Kardashian did not pursue the case more actively.
In response, it appear the couple finally decided upon a mutually agreeable marital settlement. Court filings show that both Kardashian and Odem signed the settlement documents submitted to the court recently. Once the judge ratifies the couple’s settlement agreement and signs the final order of divorce, both Kardashian and Odem will finally be able to move on with their lives and seek new relationships.
