Background
Originally
from West Palm Beach, Florida, Shantay is a trial lawyer with experience
practicing in both State and Federal courts. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts
degree from Florida Atlantic University. Shantay obtained her Juris Doctor
from Nova Southeastern University's Shepherd Broad Law Center. She also
holds a Master of Public Administration degree from Nova Southeastern
University.
After graduating from law school, Shantay moved to Georgia and
began her legal career as a bankruptcy attorney. Since that time she has practiced
in multiple areas of law, including criminal law, personal injury, real estate,
insurance defense, dependency, and family law. After six years of running her
own practice, Shantay has decided to join Meriwether & Tharp, where she will focus solely
on marital and family law. Shantay has extensive litigation experience at both
the trial and appellate levels. In addition to being admitted to practice
in Georgia Superior Court, she is also admitted to practice before the Georgia
Court of Appeals, the Georgia Supreme Court, the United States District Courts
for the Middle and Southern Districts, and the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals.
On a personal note, Shantay is the mother of two children, a
daughter and a son. In her free time she enjoys traveling, cooking, and
learning about foreign cultures.
