Background
Robert Goff is an Attorney with Meriwether & Tharp, LLC
and practices family law. Robert has focused on client satisfaction in domestic
litigation since his entry to the Georgia Bar in 2015. Since moving to Athens in
2012, Robert has rooted down in the Classic City. He has litigated divorce,
custody, and related matters throughout the Athens-Clarke County metro area
(Clarke, Oconee, Madison, and Oglethorpe), as well as Barrow, Jackson, and
Walton Counties.
Robert earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of
Georgia School of Law in 2015. Robert interned with the Honorable David Sweat
in the Superior Court of Athens-Clarke County during law school, where he
observed many domestic hearings under a judge focused on improving the lives of
people in the community. Beginning in 2013, Robert began working at Durden
& Mills, a civil litigation firm focused on family law. After graduation,
Robert transitioned into an attorney position at Durden & Mills, in which
he helped hundreds of clients solve their problems in domestic matters, probate
matters, and estate planning.
Prior to law school, Robert graduated from the University of
Alabama with a bachelor's degree in English and a master's degree in Secondary
Education. As a member of the Master Teacher Corps of TeachNola, a highly
selective cohort of teachers committed to raising student achievement in New
Orleans' highest need schools, he taught 8th grade English at a
rural Title I school consolidated from several separate schools destroyed by
Hurricane Katrina.
Outside of court, Robert enjoys playing golf and attending
concerts. He is an automobile enthusiast and a fan of the Braves, Hawks, and
Crimson Tide.
