Background
Todd A. Orston was admitted to the Georgia Bar in 1997, and since that time he has strived to distinguish himself as a skilled, knowledgeable, and zealous advocate of his clients. During his first four years of practice he honed his courtroom trial skills handling felony criminal cases as an Assistant District Attorney, and when he transitioned into a family law practice he brought with him extensive litigation experience, as well as a strong desire to help others.
From his initial representation of family law clients at a well-respected family law boutique, to eleven years of experience representing family law clients in his own law firm, Todd brought a great deal of knowledge and experience to Meriwether & Tharp, LLC. Todd's practice has focused exclusively on family law litigation since 2001, and as a result of that focus Todd has a strong understanding of relevant legal principles, and of the judges who routinely hear family law cases in the Greater Metro Atlanta Area. Todd has authored papers, and he has taught Continuing Legal Education ("CLE") courses designed to educate other attorneys on different aspects of the law, and these efforts, along with his strong but fair representation of clients, has earned him the respect of clients and peers alike.
Clients require strong representation, but Todd understands that loud does not necessarily mean strong. Strong representation requires the ability to properly educate clients about their rights, and to approach and deal with issues in a common-sense manner designed to accomplish the most for clients. It balances the ability to negotiate favorable settlements with the skill necessary to successfully present legal issues in court. Todd is a trained mediator, and he always strives to resolve matters through negotiation and settlement, but courtroom litigation is sometimes unavoidable, and Todd uses his past experience to effectively present any family law related matter to judges and juries.
Todd has dedicated himself to providing clients with top quality legal representation, and he has established himself as a leader in the practice area of divorce and family law, aiding clients with legal issues such as contested and uncontested divorce, child custody agreements, modifications, pre/postnuptial agreement, and virtually any and all issues that Georgia families face.
On a personal note Todd is married and has two children. He is an active athletics coach, and he also coaches mock trial to high school students.
Todd also hosts a radio show, Divorce Team Radio, with Leh Meriwether. Listen Sundays at 7AM on 106.7 FM. Click here to listen to past shows.
