People Magazine reports that Patrick Dempsey's wife, Jillian Fink, has filed for a divorce from the actor after 15 years of marriage. The couple, who married in 1999, is said to have met when Dempsey, best known for his role on "Grey's Anatomy," visited Fink's hair salon. During the marriage, Fink and Dempsey had three children together: 12 year old Tallulah Fyfe, and 7 year old twins, Sullivan Patrick and Darby Galen.
As all three of the couple's children are minors, child custody may be one of the major issues of the divorce. If Fink's complaint for divorce is any indication though, the couple may be able to amicably agree on the issue of child custody, as Fink is seeking to share joint custody with Dempsey. However, the issues alimony and property division may not be as easily resolved. In addition to joint custody, Fink is also seeking child support and alimony. Fink is also likely to seek a share of the couple's marital estate. It is believed the couple did not enter into a prenuptial agreement prior to marriage. If this is the case, Fink may be entitled to up to half of Dempsey's estimated net worth of $40 million dollars.
With this much money at stake, even if the couple agrees to a resolution on the issues of child custody and child support, it would not be surprising if court intervention is necessary to resolve the issues of alimony and property division
