Kayla L. Upchurch is an attorney with Meriwether & Tharp, LLC. Kayla graduated summa cum laude from Georgia College & State University in 2015 with a degree in political science and a pre-law concentration, with a history minor. After transferring from Georgia Southern, Kayla was on the varsity women's basketball team at Georgia College and was selected to the Peach Belt Conference All-Academic Team each year, as well as to the Capital One Academic All-District Team in her senior season. She was also a member of the Pre-Law Society, the Government and Sociology Student Association, and the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. Kayla qualified for the President's List every semester, and she was the class of 2015 commencement speaker and valedictorian at Georgia College.

After graduating from Georgia College, Kayla immediately began working as a legal assistant with Meriwether & Tharp and subsequently took internships at an international sports management company and then with Governor Deal's Office of Policy and Legislative Affairs.

Kayla is currently a law student at the University of Georgia School of Law, where she is an active member of the Family Law Society and the Women Law Students Association. She was also chosen as a Dean's Ambassador for the law school. During her time at UGA Law, she has worked as a law clerk at Meriwether & Tharp, as well as a legal intern with the City of Roswell, Georgia. Entering her final year as a law student, Kayla will be participating in the UGA Law Civil Externship program in Atlanta, where she will be a law clerk in the Governor's Office of Executive Counsel. She is on course to graduate from the University of Georgia School of Law in 2019.

On a personal level, Kayla resides in Alpharetta, Georgia. When she is not at school, Kayla enjoys spending time with her family and two beloved dogs, Jack and Bella. She is also an avid sports fan, especially for Atlanta United FC, the Atlanta Hawks, and the Atlanta Falcons.
